TEAM WORKING, CONCLUSIONS
In this part I wanna say more about my group, my personal observations, thoughts and also about my own engagement into the project, being absolutely honest. I want to describe the process how we work all together, how we resolve the problems to finalise the film project.
When we heard about our new assignment, the last one in this term, we started team working from the discussion about the roles. We decided who should take an each role very quick.
We found an idea to our film, and everything was okay, until we found our first difficulties. When we lost the person who should be our main character, we had to try to resolve the problem as soon as possible. So now, after few days searching for a new inspiration, new person interested to help us, we still have nothing. Each of us, each team member is trying to help.
3 days later
We have it! We have another person who wants to be a part of our movie.
In a moment when we lost the person who should've been our main character in the movie, we had a tough times but it gave us a conclusion for the future how to talk in a group and how to turn off our emotions sometimes. The producent with her assistand and the director started to organise their responsibilities again and I can only applause them cause the situation hasn't been easy. This is the team - that never gives up.
We should be more organised and precise about everything what we say, no more misunderstandings, mistakes with communication. We did a good job staying together motivated to start with another plan very fast but one thing we should remember in such a moment - never a failure, always a lesson. This is a lesson for us to be better next time with organisation when we have another person out of our project, who is in this moment the most important to us. We are not the main point of this project, but this person is. We should be 100% sure that we are for this person first to have him to be for us. We should be always one step ahead, not one step back.
We wanted to make the film in different locations but with the time passing out we understood that still it isn't so easy to do it. We have been trying to get an access to one location at our university, but it wasn't possible. The producent and her assistant did a good job to organise some new ideas and it gave as a new faith. Then we got also a support from Chris, who is teaching us at the university. He offered us one of the lectures room so we had a chance to choose between two locations which suits us the best. As a group we need to remember about technical requirements, to have a good light, good sound and in this point it was a challenge for us. The day we wanted to shoot the movie was The Open Day at the University of Greenwich so we have been quite stressed about the sound. Because of this situation we decided to record only inside of the building. We have been thinking about many technical aspects when there is still an aspect very natural as the weather. Some of us forgot about it, for example - me. This is a good lesson for me for the future to remember about it.
We look around sometimes completely forgetting about it to look up on the sky. I'm very impressed how our team working was looking like when we finally started to record. I mean, it wasn't perfect, we made mistakes but we have tried our best to be professional. The producent and the assistant took care of our guest - Renata, who is our guitar player serving some food and water, covering her costs of the parking. They remembered about it, that was the point I have to remember in the future. I stayed more focused on my role that's why that was tough to me to find myself in organising position. I know now how it should looks like, that I could do it better next time to support them even if my job will be at the end. The film set is the place where we all are there for a reason and our commitments should meet there no matter what are our roles, if it is post production or production. I shouldn't lose the focus in it next time.
We had a problem with the time, cause there was still bright outside of the window when we started but after 1-2 hours the situation has got changed. Very important is to do the movies when the time even after 2-3 hours still gives us the chance for a good light outside. We need to be flexible with our guest, so in this situation we didn't have a chance to change it, but if we could start preparing our shooting day with this person from the beginning it would means to us a longer time to find a better day, with better time to meet the lights requirements which are very important. Luckily we had a very good, bright light in the room we chose at the university so with some supportive functions on the cameras we did it very well in my opinion.
Next time also I should try to resolve the problem of my job, I could say it in general I think, we all should have a free time until the guest can stay with us. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to stay for one last hour of our shooting, because of my working shift, but even if it is only one hour, for me it means - I haven't been there in person in this time. Even if I am an editor, I should be on this ship to the end, till we finished. This problem had another member of my team so I believe we could do it better next time. In the situation when we lost the person for our first idea of the movie, everything gets complicated and I know that was a reason of my difficulties with the job later, but still there is a lesson to keep for the future.
I think we have been cooperating very well, even if we made some mistakes, I think we all have our own conclusions which can help us to get better. When we take a responsibilities for our team positions we should stay honest at the end saying what was good and what was wrong, not only in a team working process but mainly in ourselves. This is the only way we can go ahead to be a better ones next time.
